The Montgomery YMCA Capital City Streaks rely heavily on parent volunteers to coach their recreational teams. These parents have different levels of experience with soccer and are willing to help a team have a great time. Additionally, the Montgomery YMCA Capital City Streaks does recruit volunteers from area schools and organizations if parents are not available. Please remember, if we can not find a volunteer to coach a team, then that team may not be able to play for that season. Please do not let this happen. The Montgomery YMCA Capital City Streaks is always looking for volunteers to coach. Each child must wear shin guards. Soccer shoes with rubber cleats are recommended. No metal cleats will be allowed on the soccer fields. For Indoor soccer, turf shoes or tennis shoes only. Cleats are not allowed for indoor soccer. Field status is also updated on our website under Field Conditions. Games missed due to weather cancellations are difficult to reschedule. Typically, there is one rain date included in the schedule. The soccer fields are booked most weekends. All efforts will be made to hold a soccer game even if it is raining. Of course, if there is thunder and lightening, a game will be cancelled. All practices are scheduled by the coaches. The dates and times may vary. Please consult your coach for practice times. For practice wear a pair of athletic shorts or at least a pair of comfortable shorts or loose fitting pants in cold weather. Shin guards covered by socks are required or the kids cannot play for insurance purposes. Socks must cover the shin guards entirely. Soccer shoes are recommended though not a requirement. When the ground gets wet kids can easily fall without proper footwear. At the very least a pair of gym shoes which conform well to their feet. Shoes are perhaps the most undervalued piece of soccer equipment. A bottle of water or sports drink diluted to 50% water. For games, wear your uniform, bring a big smile and have fun! Yes. All uniform shirts will be ordered based on the size specified on your registration form. Uniform Shirts typically arrive at the Montgomery YMCA on the day of the first game. The Montgomery YMCA does not assign colors to any teams and will not be able to tell you what color your team will be until the uniform shirts arrive. If you would like to coordinate your shorts, socks, and shoes with your uniform choose Black for all three.
