Director of Coaching


Jason Montgomery

Jason has been part of the soccer industry since 1995 as a player, coach, front office employee and administrator. His coaching Licenses/certifications include a USSF National “C” License and United Soccer Coaches Goalkeeping Level 1.

Jason has coached at the Youth, High School, and collegiate levels. Prior to coming to Montgomery and the Capital City Streaks, he was the Director of Soccer for the Athletic Club of the Sandhills, Southern Pines, NC. Under his leadership  he was able to merge two clubs, increase participation, re-launch the adult league and led the team that built a new soccer training facility. 

While in Southern Pines, he served as the Goalkeeping Coach for both the Men’s and Women’s Programs at Methodist University where he produced all conference goalkeepers on both the men’s and women’s sides. He was part of the women’s staff that produced a conference championship and competed in the NCAA II 2017 College Cup, Jason’s second trip. 

Jason has experience coaching in two of the most successful youth clubs in the nation with five plus years as part of the youth coaching staff and camp instructor with the Columbus Crew Youth SC of Major League Soccer and two years coaching academy and ECNL Composite at Tampa Bay United.

Jason’s wealth of experience includes the following highlights:

*  United States Soccer Federation National “C” License.

*  United Soccer Coaches Goalkeeper Level I Diploma.

*  United Soccer Coaches 4 v 4 and Level 6 Diploma’s 

*  United Soccer Coaches Youth Club Administrator Certificate.

*  United Soccer Coaches LGBT: Diversity and Inclusion Diploma

*  United Soccer Coaches Foundations of Coaching Diploma.

*  Director of Soccer, AC Sandhills (Oversaw all soccer programming including rec, adult, futsal, TOP Soccer and Competitive)

*  Five years as a NCAA DIII Assistant Coach (Capital University, Columbus, OH, Methodist University, Fayetteville, NC and   Huntingdon College, Montgomery AL)

*  Three years as a NCAA DII Assistant Coach (Eckerd College, St. Petersburg, FL. and Auburn University of Montgomery, Montgomery, AL).

*  Coached in two NCAA College Cup Competitions (2014 Capital University Women’s Soccer and 2017 Methodist University Women’s Soccer).

*  Three years High School coaching experience producing one United Soccer Coaches First Team all Region IV Player, and one United Soccer Coaches Academic All-American, three academic team awards, 10 Ohio Central District Award Players, One Ohio Central District Player of the Year and one All Ohio First Team Player.

*  Staff Coach/Head Camp Instructor, Columbus Crew SC (MLS) Youth (2010 – 2014)

*  Account Manager, Columbus Crew SC (MLS) (1997)

*  Assisted in the Development of the required coaching certification of Ohio’s Scholastic Coaches.

*  Alabama ODP Staff Coach for Boys and Girls.

Has received Coaching Education from the French Football Federation.

* Has received Coaching Education at Coverciano, the Italian National Coaching School.

*  Has maintained a successful youth training and development company with clients in four states (J2 Health and f7 soccer development.
