MISSION STATEMENT
The Montgomery YMCA Capital City Streaks program stands to provide a positive learning environment where players can develop to their full potential. All players are provided with a challenging environment where their technical, tactical, physical, and mental skills are tested at varying degrees in accordance with age-specific training. The Streaks’ focus is complete player development on and off the field. Players are regarded as individuals and are encouraged to maintain a positive self-image through healthy competitive spirit.

The Montgomery YMCA Capital City Streaks Premier Club consists of competitive U10-U18 boys and girls teams and is overseen by a Director of Coaching. We host two tournaments each year. All teams within the club are expected to participate in these events as well as to travel within the region to various league games and competitive tournaments based on the Director of Coaching’s individual team evaluations. These games put each team in the most appropriate learning environment to progress their development.

The learning process within the club varies with age.

With U12 and younger ages the coaches concentrate on fundamental skills and 1v1 activities. The purpose is to provide each player with the proper skill set to succeed as he or she gets older. With the focus being on developing the players as individuals, all games are 8v8 or smaller to allow each player to get as many touches as possible. Player development should be the ultimate goal at this age.

From U13-U15 the focus moves to tactical awareness while maintaining the skill base already learned. Players are put into more game-like situations as they move to 11v11 scrimmaging. Each player is asked to concentrate on the concept of a team and to learn to play together as one. While basic skills are still an emphasis they are not the main focus of this age group.

The U16-U18 ages focus on systems of play. They learn to play in different systems while understanding their individual roles within each system. Being as competitive as possible becomes the focus and ultimately pushes each player to strive for his or her individual goal.

The overall objective of the Montgomery YMCA Capital City Streaks is to promote interest in soccer while developing boys and girls on and off the soccer field. Players are put into enjoyable training environments to develop their skills so they are able to achieve their personal goals. At the same time this training environment teaches good values and leadership that helps to build highly competitive teams. We strive to produce great players on the field and strong leaders in the community.

The Montgomery YMCA Capital City Streaks provides high quality training that teaches the players commitment, responsibility, and leadership while they learn the proper skill set to succeed on the field. The club also hosts clinics and academies to provide further high quality instruction giving players every opportunity to succeed. These opportunities are for all players within the club regardless of financial resources. Club scholarships are available where deemed necessary to help with financial responsibilities.
