About CCS
The Capital City Streaks consists of competitive teams of as many age groups as possible from U10-U18 boys and girls. Coaches will be assigned by the Director of Coaching based on playing experience and coaching ability. Each team will participate in league play and competitive tournaments based on the Director of Coaching’s evaluation of each individual team. These games will put each team in the most appropriate learning environment to progress their development. CCS hosts two tournaments a year and all teams are expected to participate.
The learning process within the club will vary with age.
The club will concentrate on the fundamental skills and 1v1 activities for ages U12 and younger. The focus will be providing each player with the proper skill set to succeed as they get older. All games will be 8v8 or smaller to focus on the individual player and allow each player to get as many touches as possible. Player development should be the ultimate goal at this age.
From U13-U15 the focus should move to tactical awareness. While maintaining the skill base already learned. Players will be put into more game-like situations and games will move to 11v11. Each player will be asked to understand the team concept and learn to play together as one. Basic skills will still be emphasized, but will not be the main focus of this age group.
The U16-U18 ages focus is on systems of play. They will learn to play in different systems while understanding their individual roles within each system. Being as competitive as possible is now a focus and will ultimately push each player to strive for his or her goal.
